The book is split down the middle. The first half is about character: presence, restraint, judgement, and the people you keep around you. The second half is the method, with the numbers — what an asset actually is, what tax quietly takes, how to work out the figure that would make you free, and the order in which any of it should be done.
It recommends no security and forecasts no return. It is a book about sequence: which decision comes first, and why most people start from the last one.
